"Prisoners"

  hello moviebuffs,

Had dinner...sat on the couch...switched on the TV...got connected to WiFi...amazon prime...searching...searching more..."Prisoners"...for those of you who have not heard this name before....

First half of the movie gives a very real and brutally honest diegesis of how different people react to the unanticipated kidnap of the protagonist's daughter Anna and her friend Joy. The movie manages to paint a neat emotional landscape of all the characters tapping into their mental distress and unbearable sadness that finds its outlet in all sorts. Keller Dover(Hugh Jackman), Anna's father, appears to be a man who weaves a mask out of anger and aggression hiding his true decrepit self. Detective Loki(Jake Gyllenhaal) who is hired for the case, carries himself in a rather outlandish manner, for he behaves to be overly aggressive at times while appallingly calm at others.
Well... the second half...its humorous to see how it will keep you hoping...hoping for the movie to turn out good but ends up taking vague suspense building plots leading nowhere. Denis Villeneuve does an outstanding job of introducing many intriguing pieces of information with an intensifying suspense but alas ends up leaving irregularities and loose ends wearing out its welcome.

Whether you are bored and/or just looking for a good movie to watch...I do not recommend watching this particular one but if you are a cine-phage(just like me) who would really love to challenge thyself with a variety of movies irrespective of how good or bad they are, then yes go ahead and watch it and don't forget to comment your opinion on the same.

thank you.
